In view of the festive season, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday reviewed arrangements at the New Delhi Railway Station and inquired about passenger management and the expected footfall from railway officials.

Gupta, during her visit to the New Delhi Railway Station, interacted with the passengers and took note of their concerns patiently.
She also inspected safety and other facilities across all the platforms, and accordingly issued directions to officials, emphasising coordinated efforts to ensure a hassle-free experience for the travelers, especially amid the festive season, when the footfall is more than usual.

The CM also inspected the Passenger Facilitation Centre, specially equipped for the convenience of travelers. She described the centre as a testament to the government’s commitment to public convenience, safety, and culture. The new facilitation centre, which has been constructed in just three months, serves thousands of passengers daily under a single roof, offering ticketing, rest areas, clean washrooms, seating, safe drinking water, and special provisions for women, senior citizens, and differently-abled passengers.

Gupta said that this initiative is an important step towards making the system more organised, modern and citizen centric. She stated that the Delhi government, in collaboration with the centre, is working to ensure passengers face no obstacles in their journeys.

“This is a government that stands at the service of the public 24×7,” she added.

Highlighting nationwide initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Gupta noted that special trains have been introduced to help citizens celebrate festivals with their families.

A new foot over-bridge has also been constructed to manage passenger movement effectively, keeping traffic flows separate given the expected crowd.

CM Gupta emphasised that these facilities are not just basic amenities, but symbols of the government’s sensitivity and commitment towards public welfare.

She instructed officials to make thorough preparations for crowd management, as millions are expected to travel from Delhi to their hometowns during the festival season.
